Dr. Suleman Otho

A Health System Virtuoso and Clinical Epidemiology Maestro. Dr. Suleman Otho boasts a wealth of experience in the healthcare arena, spanning more than two decades in both medicine and public health. Throughout his illustrious career, he has held influential positions, notably as a Senior Chest Specialist and Public Health Consultant within the Provincial Health Department of the Sindh government.Dr. Otho's leadership and expertise shine through his roles as the Country Head of the Global Fund Round 9 for HIV and AIDS and Round 7 for Malaria, where he played a pivotal role in tackling these major health challenges. His proficiency extends to project management, exemplified by his contributions to DFID's initiatives aimed at improving Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH).Before assuming these significant roles, Dr. Otho served as the Deputy Director of Planning and held the esteemed position of Senior Registrar at Civil Hospital Karachi, where his contributions to healthcare administration were invaluable.Dr. Otho's educational journey began with an MBBS degree, followed by the acquisition of a Master's in Public Health from the University of Wollongong in Australia, which greatly enhanced his understanding of public health dynamics.Throughout his career, Dr. Otho has been actively engaged in a wide array of healthcare programs, focusing on tuberculosis prevention and treatment, epidemiology, and surveillance projects related to HIV. Eng. Zia Mohy-Ud-Din

A biomedical engineer and Public Health expert.Dr. Zia is a highly skilled and versatile professional in the field of biomedical engineering. With a comprehensive educational background, including a BS, MS, and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, he has demonstrated his commitment to academic excellence. Dr. Zia's remarkable research capabilities are evident from his impressive track record, which comprises two patents, 20 journal publications, and 38 conference publications across the globe.His expertise encompasses a wide spectrum of biomedical engineering domains, including analog and digital circuit design, analog and digital filters, microcontroller systems, and peripheral interfaces like SPI and UART. Dr. Zia's proficiency extends to designing and implementing low-power, battery-operated biomedical devices such as ECG and EOG monitors. He also possesses moderate-level skills in biotelemetry system design.At an expert level, Dr. Zia excels in brain-computer interface devices, neural electrode design and implementation (including flexible and hydrogel-coated electrodes for stimulation, drug delivery, and spike recording), and the design of neural cooling probes for treating epileptic events.Dr. Zia's research extends to neural cell cultures, rat brain craniotomy for neural electrode implantation, and calcium imaging of neurons using fluorescent dyes. He is skilled in laser cutting techniques for hydrogel materials, as well as electrically controlled drug delivery systems. Armed with extensive knowledge on human thought and development, Dr. Khan drives change by tackling complex issues like child malnutrition, gender equity, poverty and social determinants of health. She believes in empowering women and enabling community participation to create lasting solutions.
A master of participatory action research, Dr. Khan develops groundbreaking curricula on bioethics, human rights, and health society/culture to shape young minds. Her classroom teaching and workshops spark dialogue and reflection on ethics, empowerment and social justice.
